Hong Kong fisherboy’s tragedy 1953 舊香港

I filmed this semi-documentary in Yaumati, Kowloon, where sampans and junks found a shelter against typhoons. It does not exist anymore, being reclaimed. Peter, a fisherboy looses his friend Wing Kee. In his sorrow he has a spiritual experience that makes him accept life again. All actors in this film have died. Both boys were only middle aged when they died. Mrs Stephany Czechowitz lived longer. I was 24 years old when I took this movie. It was partly based on my own inner experiences. I loved classical music. At that time LP’s were introduced. I bought my gramophone from Radio People in Nathan Road.
