Sudan 50 years ago Fisherfolk Chari river

An old German educational film goes back to the time that there was relative peace in the country. Fisherfolk are seen along the Chari river near Chad.Since its independence in 1956 Sudan has been plagued by internal conflict. Civil wars have cost the lives of over a million people. A viewer (see below) informs: “This film was taken in the country known today as Chad, near the city of Fort-Lamy (today: Ndjamena). According to the speaker, this people are part of the Kotoko tribe…It’s not in current Sudan.”
